One day private tour to Albania, Saranda and Butrint
Morning departure from the port of Corfu for mainland Greece by car ferry. Arrival at the port of Igoumenitsa and drive to the border station Mavromati. We continue our tour in Albania, crossing villages in the southern part of the country. Arriving in the city of Saranda, we meet our guide and then drive to the Butrint Archaeological Site - a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Over the centuries, the ancient city had disappeared under layers of mud and vegetation - but the Archaeologists have unearthed one of the finest remains of a working-class city in the Mediterranean. At the edge of the lake where the ancient city of Budrint is located, with the well-preserved archaeological monuments and the ancient theater, the visitor is transported 2500 years back to the 3rd century AD. The ancient high school, the Roman baths, the ancient temple with its priceless mosaic floor and huge stone walls will take you to a time unknown to man. Reaching the top of the hill is the castle of Ali Passa, a history of the Ottoman Empire, from this place we have a panoramic view of the Ancient City, the lake and the vast plains, a breathtaking spectacle. Upon our return to the city of Saranda free time for lunch. Later we will take the way back to the Greek border and the port of Igoumenitsa where we will take the ferry to Corfu
